Despite being on the market for only a few years, SecureVPN is a solid service that already boasts more than a million users. Its free plan and extremely affordable premium plan make it a decent choice if you want to buy a VPN subscription but you’re on a tight budget.

SecureVPN promises a no-logging policy for data pertaining to the use of VPN or proxy. The website offers a detailed breakdown of the information it does collect, which includes:
While it doesn’t have much in terms of advanced features, SecureVPN does have all the basic features you’d expect from a good VPN provider.
The service supports PPTP, L2TP and SSTP security protocols at 128-bit and 256-bit encryption, but not OpenVPN for the time being. It also supports Socks, Squid and HTTPS.
On the downside, SecureVPN currently only has servers in 7 countries worldwide, which is extremely low.
SecureVPN’s servers boast excellent uptime. You’ll also get unlimited bandwidth and no speed throttling when you’re on a paid plan.
That said, according to its terms of service, SecureVPN reserves the right to impose limits and suspend or block the service at its ‘sole discretion’.
This is extremely vague and wide wording. Other VPN services we reviewed that have similar restrictions do not use such broad and general language; and qualify their discretion by stating it will only be used in exceptional cases of abuse or illegality.
SecureVPN has a free plan and a paid plan.
Somewhat expectedly, the free plan is limited. You won’t get full access to SecureVPN’s network, and bandwidth is capped at 1000 MB per month. This clearly won’t cut it if you’re an average to high internet user, but it should be more than enough for email and light browsing.
Unfortunately, you also will only be able to use the VPN for 20 minutes at a stretch, which is a significant drawback.
The paid version, however, is very reasonably priced and includes full network access with unlimited use and bandwidth.
|1 year||$69.99 or $5.83 per month|
While torrenting is not allowed on the free plan, SecureVPN’s premium membership includes P2P file transfers.
The website makes scarce mention of Netflix except for a few newsy articles and updates on the streaming platform’s crusade against VPN users. SecureVPN has shown some mild success with Netflix but ultimately not enough to recommend it to those whose main priority is to unblock US Netflix.
SecureVPN has mobile apps for iOS and Android. The apps are intuitive and boast a clean, consistent interface that requires little work to set up or navigate.

Unfortunately, SecureVPN’s website still lacks a knowledge base. And while it does have an FAQ section, at the time of writing this is extremely limited.
The good news is that you can get in touch with live customer support seven days a week from 9 am to 5pm Eastern Standard Time. You can also open a support ticket by filling in an online form.
With servers in only 7 countries, SecureVPN is somewhat limited when it comes to geo-unblocking options.
However, you can switch between servers an unlimited number of times.
The service also supports all major platforms. There are dedicated apps for Windows, OSX, Android and iOS. You can also install the VPN manually on most other devices.
As it stands now, it’s hard to recommend SecureVPN. The website offers scarce details and includes some inconsistencies that make it easy to pass up on for a better-organized provider. That’s not to say that it’s a bad service; the speeds and torrent-capabilities are 2 highlights. But the low server count, vague website, lack of FAQs, and expensive price tag put it a notch below the competition.
